Our Internship Program

Financial Symmetry proudly instituted our internship program in 2000, working in collaboration with the career center and several finance professors at North Carolina State University.

Students are able to work at our office and gain invaluable experience in the industry as well as general knowledge of an office environment.  The internship program is designed to last for one semester or a summer term.  The intern positions are part-time and accommodate class schedules and school responsibilities.

Many of our interns have pursued careers in the finance field after graduation, and a few have gone on to attend graduate programs.  We have found that the internship program is a learning experience for us as well.  Different perspectives and frequent training of interns help our staff design more efficient systems and operating procedures.

Our interns can expect to see many sides of the financial planning industry – from initial planning work and continuous investment review processes to marketing efforts and research.  We use industry-wide technologies as well as in-house designed software to manage our services. Combined, our systems allow our interns the opportunity to gain insight into the world of data management, day-to-day operations, and exposure to financial planning tools. Our interns enjoy a very flexible schedule and gain invaluable experience and training, all while working with some of the newest – and oldest – technologies in the industry.

A few of the areas our interns can expect to focus on during the program include:

  • Data entry and management
  • Scanning, filing, and processing documents
  • Assisting with multiple steps in the financial planning process
  • Report generation
  • Mutual fund research
  • Marketing campaign efforts

We strive to provide our interns with an environment where they can gain knowledge of different aspects of financial planning that will help them have a more successful and rewarding career.
